History of this lottery game goes far back in time. La Primitiva lotto was created by royal initiative with the purpose of raising funds for the treasury.
The lottery began in the 18th century. After that it started growing for more than 100 years and it returned in 1985 when was reinstated by ONLAE (Organismo Nacional de Loterias y Apuestas del Estado). Currently the 6/49 format is still in use.
One of the biggest jackpots was in 2014 with the prize of 73 million euros. But the record is still held by the prize worth 101.7 million euros in 2015.
In November the Spanish lottery added one more category for the 6+R prize. Winners who have guessed six numbers plus reintegro numbers are assigned to players ticket so they could collect extra amount beside jackpot.
An interesting fact is that in October 2005 a group of 23 drivers from a bus company, that have been participating since 1985 with the same numbers, won.
It’s obvious that the luck has finally changed and now it is in their favour because after 20 years of playing they have won the jackpot of the amount of 24.92 million euros.
If you decide to play this game you are required to choose 6 numbers between 1 and 49. If you manage to match all six numbers including the Reintegro number then you can win the jackpot.
In the case that none of the players guess the main numbers, the prize accumulates meaning it will continue to grow with the next draw.
This game also has five secondary prizes which refer to the matching of 3, 4, 6, 5+1, and 5 balls.
